| The Bakehouse, modeled after European artisanal bakeries, began its operations in August of 1995. Today, there are only 12 other bakeries in the U.S. that sell Michael London's licensed bread recipes. In the summer of 2001, Scholars Inn purchased the bakery.
Scholars Inn Bakehouse breads and pastries are currently sold at several Bloomington and Indianapolis locations, including local Farmers' Markets, multiple retail outlets, and both Scholars Inn Gourmet Café and Wine Bar restaurants.
Over the years, the Bakehouse has received numerous awards for its bread, including being selected as "The Best Bakery" by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine in 1998. Aside from the award-winning bread, The Bakehouse also offers breakfast sandwiches, pizzas, salads, soups, wine, coffee, teas, and our own signature line of homemade retail items.
